Lore Harp McGovern is Cofounder and Board Member, McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT where she consults closely with the Director who is dedicated to develop transformational strategies that address brain diseases affecting people around the world. She has founded or run companies in diverse fields including health care, educational publishing and high-tech, and is an investor in numerous start-up companies in Silicon Valley. She was a co-founder of Vector Graphic, one of the earliest PC companies, which she took public in 1981. She was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 1983 by Women Business Owners of New York, has been awarded the Distinguished Immigrant Award by the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Pepperdine University. Lore is Chair Emeritus of the Whitehead Institute’s Board of Associates and currently serves as a member of the NSF/MIT Executive Advisory Board for the Center for Brains, Minds and Machines, is a Member of the Visiting Committee for Theater Arts at MIT and Board Advisor at Springboard and numerous start ups.
Lore earned a BA from CalState LA and her MBA from Pepperdine University.
